Object tracker was working after update but now will not resize or change shape at all. Restarted several times and same thing

I don’t mean to offend, but we used to call it a “crash”, not a “freeze” :) This is a bug clearly causing FPX to crash. If we could maneuver around the freeze and get back to a working state, then we could call it a freeze (an maybe move on).

In my case it doesn't allow me to import the missing files because it doesn't recognize them as identical. In practice it is as if I wanted to reconnect two different files but they are not the same. What can I do? What could be the problem? Yesterday I was working on this project without any problems. I turned off the PC around 6pm and now, when I reopen the project, it tells me that the files are missing and it can't reconnect them. Please Help!

Also just discovered a bug when synchronising clips which has put me at a standstill with a current project I'm editing. Gonna roll back to the previous version until they iron out the kinks

I'm having an intermittent problem when skimming audio tracks using my arrow keys. It doesn't happen every time, but when it does, it's annoying.

As if now, July 3rd, 2024, Apple FCPX hasn't released any official update acknowledging on these glitches for the 10.8 version on any of their websites or social medial platforms. Let me know in the comment section if anyone get any news.

Hi Matt, great video! The audio skim thing is killing me as I was trying to sync clips to specific points in the audio. I have a question about the motion track. I have a clip that is coming towards the camera and passes through. I need a graphic to track and grow larger but when I click on scale it instantly shrinks it tiny. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or what because 1-2 of the attempts it didn’t do that. Thanks

Yeah, that's why I usually don't do updates, it always seem to be problems! Audio skimming is the only way to do accurate editing. Interesting I'm using a Mac mini M2.

I don't have a track pad etc. but fcp freezes sections of video (solid background) when applying outtro cross dissolve transition

there is also an issue with the audio, we used to move by 1 frame by keyboard arrows to sync audio, and if we move by 1 frame we hear the frame audio, now you can't hear it and I don't know when will they fix it.

What if you use a regular mighty mouse or whatever it's called?

I have lost access to all my Libraries, I bought a new Macbook Pro and updated fcp to (10.8) from 10.6, I then returned the new Mac and started using my old Macbook Pro with the highest Version I can get(10.6). Now my FCP Library's that were updated to (10.8) I can not access because I have 10.6. Any advice ??? I really just like to find some kind of FCP Classes or Tutoring if you know of any ??

I have the exact same issues with mask overlay, transformation, video cropping, and everything related to the view panel. MacBook pro 16/M1/1Tb, Sonoma 14.5. I reinstalled the program several times, but nothing helped. I reset the settings, created new libraries, and spent the whole day trying to understand and fix the problem, but it's still there.

There are a fair few bugs I have also noticed in 10.8 One of the annoying bugs is that audio/music tracks will go red even when the track has been imported into the library, even some of the sound effects will also go red. Another bug is the delay between the magic keyboard and magic mouse to the timeline and viewer, so annoying. I am using a Mac Studio M1 Max on Sonoma 14.5. Apple PLEASE FIX!

Matt, I have a MacBook Pro M2 and updated to Final Cut Pro 10.8. I have the Samsung T9, and it says online that the T9 does not need to be formatted to APFS for Mac. I am editing a short multicam video that refuses to play through without dropping frames and it's driving me crazy.. Any suggestions on why this is not working for me?

I edit live music visuals + tour timecode, the audio skimming bug is crippling for me. I found that you can get the sample skimming back with the arrow keys if you move your cursor over the library window and away from the timeline. Still annoying tho. Do better Apple.

Or create a motion with any color or font of your choice via download and add a pop effect making the text more appealing 😮

I spoke with Apple Care again yesterday and was told that engineering has not received enough reports from users yet to escalate this issue. Because FCP doesn't actually crash, they are not getting any crash reports. 👀So if you're having this problem, please reach out and let Apple know this is happening to you. 🤓

After Apple discontinued Aperture, I haven't bought any more Apple computers. I felt cheated by Apple. In the meantime I have bought 2 high-end Linux laptops and also replaced my iMac with a Linux computer. I have always found Aperture superior to Lightroom, the workflow was just much faster for me. As a reportage photographer, I always work in series, it is not about 1 top photo, but about a top series that tells a story and here too I find Aperture superior compared to Lightroom. my next smartphone and that of my family will no longer be Apple.

aperture today would've been an amazing app for the ipad and a great replacement for lightroom. Aperture and iphoto was the two apps that I think Apple should've kept. Great apps that I greatly miss.

skimming is weird in 10.7. Whenever I use the skimming on single clip in the project, sometimes (more often than you'd expect) it gets stuck and you can't skim in the project. ONLY solution I've found so far is close the project and opening it back again. I used to just close the FCPX and reopening the app but eventually realized I could just close the project and reopen so that I wouldn't have to wait for the app to close and open again.

I have an M1 Max Mac Studio, and my Draw Mask is working fine. The audio scrubbing using the arrow keys, however, is also not working properly.

This is a serious bug with the audio scrubbing.

I digitize VHS tapes directly in FCPX using a Sony PD170P camera that has analog inputs and a DV output. The conversion happens directly with the pass-through signal. The advantage is that it corrects all the sync errors of the old video tapes. 😉
